National Energy Foundation launches revamped LogPile

23rd April 2015

The National Energy Foundation has launched an improved and revamped version of LogPile, its online database designed to help the general public find suppliers of wood fuel (logs, pellets, etc) and wood fuel equipment (stoves, boilers, etc).

LogPile – its supplier database and the accompanying web pages on using wood as a fuel - was originally launched in 2002, since when it has developed a reputation as a prime source of information on wood fuel and equipment suppliers. It’s part of the National Energy Foundation’s home energy information services, which  also include YouGen, SuperHomes, MyGreenBuilder and AceforCommunities all providing a wealth of knowledge and information to help people make the right choices about energy improvements in their homes.

Over the past few months, staff at NEF have been working to both move LogPile onto the National Energy Foundation website and also put in place some exciting changes and significant improvements that have resulted in an improved service to both the general public and the suppliers.

People are now able to search for both wood fuel AND equipment suppliers in one place – by place/postcode and a whole range of other criteria such as the type of boiler or stove, the type of logs, and how they’re supplied.

The new site is also more modern-looking, includes better maps and presents more comprehensive information in a much fresher, fuller and more user-friendly way.

The Foundation is now working with suppliers to update their details and get as many companies as possible listed in time for the 2015/16 heating season. Suppliers are encouraged to go to LogPile to look at the new pages and register on the database.

Commenting on the LogPile development, Gabby Mallett, Director of Households and Communities at the National Energy Foundation, said:

“Improving the use of energy in buildings is the National Energy Foundation’s overarching objective so we’re delighted to be launching a revamped service that helps householders connect with wood fuel and equipment suppliers. The new LogPile is not only fresher in its design but also provides a more comprehensive service.

“Unlike other sites, which often provide information in an unfriendly way, or only promote fuel or manufacturers, ours is unique in the range of information it provides and its flexible search facility. We believe that LogPile is now the most comprehensive and accessible source of information on wood fuel and equipment suppliers in the country.”
