Why spend money on energy you're not using? Learn here how you can save money on your energy bill whilst helping the planet.

 
 
 
 
  • Change gear in the car when you reach 2500revs per minute in petrol cars and 2000revs per minute in diesel cars to be most fuel efficient
  • Check you tyre pressure – under inflated tyres by 10% add 1% to fuel consumption.
  • Speed at 85mph uses approx 25% more fuel than 70mph. Stick to the most efficient speed of 60-65mph.
  • Stick to the average speed limit as it isn’t much higher than the most efficient speed.
  • Air conditioning uses 20-25% more fuel so don’t use it.
  • Remove roof and cycle racks when not in use and they require the vehicle to use more fuel to move
  • Try car sharing once a week
  • Plan journeys well to avoid getting lost and using additional fuel
  • Use your bike or walk short distances – to the shops or work when possible
  • Before booking a flight in Europe check to see if you can get their by train and consider the alternative.
