community building 1Community buildings are often the focal point of a community.  They may be a community centre, a church hall or perhaps even a pub.  Not only can they be great places to host events, they can also become demonstrators of good practise themselves and provide a unique opportunity to galvanise a community around one large scale project, which can then inspire smaller projects elsewhere.

We have a good deal of experience of providing energy audits of community buildings and feasibility studies for possible renewable installations.  We have also provided presentations and hosted events in these spaces.

Cottenham solar fair

Cottenham solar fairFor example In Cottenham we ran a solar fair in a local school hall.  We were lucky enough to have a mobile display vehicle which displayed both solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies; South Cambridgeshire District Council were on hand to provide information on initiatives in the area to encourage domestic solar thermal installations and five different installers were also there to display their different products and services.   We provided a short power point presentation which described how the technologies worked, where to obtain grants and how to ensure that you would choose a good installer.

The event was attended by over 200 people.
