There are a few questions that need to be answered before considering this technology.

Do you have enough land?

To supply heat for large buildings it could require massive area to install horizontal ground collector loop. Vertical borehole is another option but this requires specialist to estimate the correct system. How much land do I need?

Is the building well insulated?

As the heat pump supplies low temperature fluid, it is essential that the heat loss of the building has been optimised. The heat pump may not work properly if the heat loss calculator is wrong during the design stage. Is my heat loss calculation right?

How big the system you need?

The ground source heat pump may not be big enough for your building, although you may think to have multiple systems to cover the total heat load. However, this may cause the problem after couple years of use – would your land be able to recover from the energy extracted from your system?
