Top Awards to Top Green London Organisations

NEF seeks partners for Intelligent Energy Europe projects
The National Energy Foundation has participated in European collaborative projects since 1995, with a clear focus on integration of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the built environment. The Foundation aims to participate in no more than one or two high quality projects each year, in order to maximise its contribution to each project, and has gained a reputation as a reliable and enthusiastic partner. Business Carbon Calculator launched in Milton Keynes
The National Energy Foundation has designed a new carbon calculator for small businesses as part of its support for the Milton Keynes Low Carbon Living initiative. The calculator will allow businesses in the area to estimate savings that they might make by taking up energy saving measures.

New label launched for certified green electricity
A new certification scheme was launched on 9 February 2010 to label green electricity tariffs which have been certified as having genuine environmental benefits. The ‘green energy certified’ label will help customers recognise tariffs that have been certified under the scheme. It will reassure them that if they choose a certified green energy deal they will be supporting suppliers who are going the extra mile to reduce carbon emissions. The Scheme is controlled by an independent Panel, with the National Energy Foundation as its Secretariat.

NEF welcomes boiler scrappage but is concerned about availability
The National Energy Foundation (NEF) welcomed the Chancellor's announcement of a "Boiler Scrappage" scheme, under which old but still working G-rated boilers will be given a £400 incentive to buy a new boiler or renewable heat unit. "We estimate that a family home could save up to 1.9 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year and as much as £350 from their fuel bills," said Ian Byrne, Deputy Director. "If the old boiler still had an average 6 years of life left, this represents a cost to the Government of just £35 per tonne of CO2."
