The National Energy Foundation is able to offer two courses in renewable energy. The first is their one day Introduction to Renewable Energy which provides an overview of the main renewable energy technologies and financial incentives.
The second, which NEF offers in partnership is the more intensive ABBE Energy Advice (Renewable) Award (Level 4 QCF).
Please click here to register your interest in our Introduction to Renewable Energy course or see our training in partnership page for information on the Energy Advice (Renewable) Award.
About the Introduction to Renewable Energy Course
This course explain how you can generate an income from the FIT and the RHI. It will also provide you with the information you need to select one or more of the following renewable energy technologies:-
- Solar Water Heating
- Wood Fuel Heating
- Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps
- Solar Photovoltaics
- Small to Medium Scale Wind
- Energy Policy and Planning
- Financial Incentives
The main focus of this course is on small scale renewables below 50kW (sometimes called microgeneration) rather than large-scale infrastructure projects. Many of the technologies can be integrated with energy efficiency into low-carbon buildings.
Prior to attending, you will be asked to calculate your organisation's (or home) existing energy use and carbon footprint. The results will be used as part of a workshop on selecting the most appropriate renewable energy technology and payback.
Course Accreditation
This one day course has been accredited by the Energy Institute and by BTEC as a Level 3 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). It has a value of 1 credit (10 hours with pre-reading). Any delegate wishing to gain this credit should contact Grace Hyson at least a week before the course date as it will be necessary for them to be registered with Edexcel and pay the assessment fee of £100 plus VAT (on top of the usual course fee) prior to attending the course. Delegates will also need to sit and pass a 45 minute assessment after the course prior to gaining their certificate.
