School
visits usually include use of The Green Energy Machine (GEM). The
GEM is a demonstration vehicle housing exciting examples of renewable
energy that help towards an understanding of the technologies involved.
NEF's
team can demonstrate examples of wind and solar technologies, which
can assist towards the groups awareness and understanding of sustainable
energy and the need to reduce CO2 emissions. The visit is hands-on
so the children get to try using the technology as well. A visit
includes an introduction to renewable energy appropriate to the
age of pupils and the group. Primary
Schools can
opt for Energy Assemblies for with pupil participation.

A
visit from GEM is ideally suitable for:
- An
'Energy Day' or 'Environment Day'
- Schools
aiming for EcoSchools awards
Work topics covered include:
- Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
- Energy Efficiency and sustainable (renewable) energy
- Climate change and carbon reduction
School visits are usually only available
for schools situated up to 60 miles from Milton Keynes where NEF
is based. |
