Communications Manager

Period: Permanent
Location: Knowlhill, Milton Keynes
Salary: c.£28-33,000

The National Energy Foundation is an independent charity that has been at the forefront of improving the use of energy in buildings since 1988. We aim to give people, organisations and government the knowledge, support and inspiration they need to understand and improve the use of energy in buildings.

We are currently looking for a communications manager who will play an important role in building NEF's reputation by increasing awareness and understanding of our work among our external audiences at a national, regional and local level. The job holder will actively promote NEF's objective through a variety of media channels, ensuring maximum influence in improving the use of energy in buildings. They will also develop internal communications and contribute to income generation through providing marketing support on projects undertaken for NEF's clients.

For fuller details on NEF and the position, please download the detailed job description.

Interested candidates should apply in writing, including a CV, by midday on Friday 31st May 2013; applications may be sent by e-mail to Ian Byrne, the Deputy Chief Executive. Interviews will probably be held between 10th and 14th June.

Please note that this is a re-advertisement and previous candidates need not re-apply.

Volunteer Opportunities

As well as any paid positions listed above, we are always keen to hear from people who may wish to support our mission to combat climate change through working as a volunteer.

Please contact the Volunteers Manager ( volunteers@nef.org.uk ), attaching a CV, if you are interested in volunteering. Include information on what you would like to gain from a placement and what you can offer in return.

It is worth bearing in mind that as a charity working in the energy field we are often approached by individuals wishing to offer their time and gain relevant experience. Whilst we are committed to providing a supportive environment for volunteers, this does involve much time and effort on our part. This in turn means that we are not always able to offer positions to all those would like to work with us. However we do promise to respond quickly to your enquiry and give an honest appraisal of whether we can offer a position.

NEF operates from its bespoke low energy building, which includes many renewable energy technologies and exemplar fuel crops. We are a lively, caring and professional team of people with a 'can-do' approach to the issues of climate change. Through our work, we have gained a reputation for integrity and honesty and NEF increasingly takes on a much needed role in verifying the claims of others involved in carbon reduction.
