About
the Log Pile Project
The Log Pile is a project
of the National Energy Foundation, Renewable
Department. This project was set up to promote and aid the use
of wood as a source of renewable energy.
The project, which started in April 2002 covers the whole of England
and ran for a three-year period.
The benefits of the project included:
- An online database of wood fuel suppliers with search facilities
- Development of a guide on how to use wood as a sustainable energy
source
- An opportunity for wood fuel suppliers to increase their sales
- Detailed information on wood pellets
- Supplier lists of wood pellet stoves and boilers
As funding for the project
ended in 2005 all questions not answered by this website relating
to woodfuel and energy crops should be directed to the Biomass
Energy Centre. The Biomass Information Centre is being
established by Forest Research as a 'one stop shop' able to provide
advice and guidance - signposting to other specialised sources of
advice as necessary - on a wide range of biomass fuels and conversion
technologies.
The
project is supported by DEFRA through the Environmental Action Fund
and managed by Sandra Hayes at the National Energy Foundation.
